Matthew Bourne’s Nutcracker holds a special place in my heart 🩰✨.
From a young age I used to watch it on repeat, dance along with the dancers on the screen in my tulle dress and slippers, dreaming of being Clara in the blue spotty dress 💙. I was 9 years old when I was fortunate enough to see it at Saddler’s Wells Theatre in London, and I am still in love with the show.
To celebrate this beautiful production, I thought it would be the perfect practice for my character/figure drawing skills to illustrate a few of the main characters from the show.

My best friend and studio buddy, for 16 years you have been at our side - always there - a constant reliable.

Today we had to say goodbye as Poppy passed away peacefully at home surrounded by a lot of love. Our hearts are completely broken. We will miss you so much but you will be forever in our hearts and thoughts.🪽

With a number of new followers, I thought it was a good time to introduce myself (I realised recently that I have never done this before!😂)

I’m Isabel Florence, otherwise known to my friends and family as Izzy, and I am a 2D Animator and Illustrator with a passion for bringing environments, architecture and cityscapes to life, through my highly detailed, hand-drawn artwork. Whether it’s animations, illustrations, or just a fun doodle, I love producing work that connects with people and sparks a little joy, creating immersive worlds for others to enjoy.

I graduated from Leeds Arts University with a Masters Degree in Animation, having previously gained a BA Honours Degree in Fine Art from Sheffield Hallam University. Prior to this I studied art whilst at school and at Art College.👩‍🎓

From a very young age, I developed a love of art and could be found drawing and painting at any opportunity. At the same time, I was encouraged, by my parents, to always look up and take in my surroundings. This started my fascination with buildings, architecture, landscapes and cityscapes, which I try to incorporate elements of into my work, especially when it comes to creating rich, immersive environments. Films are another huge inspiration for me - there’s something about the storytelling and visual language that never stops fueling my creativity.

When I’m not busy animating or illustrating, you can find me travelling and exploring new places for inspiration - especially with my dog and studio buddy, Poppy.🐾

Just returned from spending a fabulous Christmas and New Year at Duntrune Castle, Scotland. Known as the setting of James Bond’s Skyfall. 5000 acres of estate and 6 miles of private coastline to explore, the views were breathtaking 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🎄

A Christmassy London and a visit to the Disney 100 Exhibition. So amazing to have the opportunity as an Animator to see Walt’s earliest designs, the company’s storyboards, costumes and props from well loved films. A nice way to finish the trip was seeing the Christmas lights on Regent street switch on.✨
